Shapiro Sher Expands Banking and Financial Services Practice

Shapiro Sher is pleased to announce that Buck Davies has joined the firm as a Banking and Financial Services Associate.

Buck’s practice focuses on financial services litigation, complex commercial disputes, commercial finance transactions, and loan enforcement and workout matters. He brings a strong background in litigation and case strategy developed through both public and private practice experience.

Prior to joining Shapiro Sher, Buck served as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he managed a high-volume caseload and prosecuted cases through trial. His courtroom experience and strategic approach to litigation add valuable perspective to the firm’s Banking and Financial Services practice.

Buck also previously served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Cahill, Jr. in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, conducting legal research and assisting in the drafting of judicial opinions. During law school, he gained additional private practice experience supporting business law and litigation matters.

Buck earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law and his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Shapiro Sher welcomes Buck to the firm and looks forward to his contributions to clients and the continued growth of the practice.

Larry S. Gibson Honored by Prince Hall Masons with Gold Medal of Achievement

At the recent Masonic Convention in Memphis, Tennessee, Larry S. Gibson, Of Counsel at Shapiro Sher and Retired Professor of Law at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, was awarded the Gold Medal of Achievement, the highest honor of the Prince Hall Masons. This prestigious recognition has been presented fewer than 50 times since its creation 70 years ago, underscoring its rarity and significance.

Mr. Gibson’s lifelong dedication to leadership, education, and public service has made a lasting impact in Maryland and beyond. In addition to his distinguished legal career, he is the author of Young Thurgood: The Making of a Supreme Court Justicethe definitive biography of Justice Thurgood Marshall’s early years. His contributions to the legal profession, scholarship, and civic life continue to exemplify the highest ideals of excellence and integrity.

Also during the convention, Maryland Governor Wes Moore was elevated to the 33rd°—the highest degree in Freemasonry.

Partner Jason Wasserman Supports Pathfinders for Autism Initiative

Shapiro Sher is proud to highlight Partner Jason Wasserman’s involvement with Pathfinders for Autism as a member of the Run Wild for Autism Committee, supporting the organization’s mission to assist individuals with autism and their families across Maryland.

Founded in 2000 by parents of children with autism, including Baltimore Orioles legend B.J. Surhoff, Pathfinders for Autism provides free resources, training, and programs that promote inclusion, understanding, and community engagement across the state.

In addition to his new board role, Jason and his family recently participated in the organization’s annual Run Wild for Autism 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run & Walk at the Maryland Zoo. The event brought together thousands of participants to raise awareness and funds for Pathfinders for Autism’s vital programs.
