Shapiro Sher Represents Trustee in Complex Bankruptcy Liquidation

Shapiro Sher attorneys Richard Goldberg and Daniel Zeller have represented the Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee in the complex liquidations of Diamond Comic Distributors and related debtors. The Trustee’s appointment and his retention of Shapiro Sher came after a Chapter 11 reorganization failed. The case has been marked by intractable disputes with consignment vendors and the purchaser of the debtors’ assets, and their competing ownership claims to remaining assets.

In October 2026, the Maryland Bankruptcy Court approved settlements that the Trustee and Shapiro Sher spearheaded resolving the consignment disputes, asset ownership, the distribution of approximately $1.3 million in escrowed funds (with a significant distribution to the Trustee), and the waiver of multi-million dollar claims by all the other parties against the bankruptcy estates.
