Overview

Jason A. Wasserman is a Partner in the Corporate & Securities Law group at Shapiro Sher, where he provides strategic legal counsel to businesses at all stages of growth. Known for his deep knowledge of corporate law and a practical, solutions-oriented approach, Mr. Wasserman helps clients navigate a wide range of transactional and regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private offerings, corporate governance, entity formation and restructuring, operating agreements and shareholder agreements, contracts, and securities law compliance.

Clients and colleagues alike rely on Mr. Wasserman’s knowledge of Maryland corporate law. He regularly leads the Firm’s issuance of legal opinions for securities offerings by registered closed-end funds, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and other public corporations that are formed in Maryland, financings under Maryland law or to Maryland entities, and other complex transactions. His practice also includes advising on real estate transactions and assisting with the Firm’s general counsel practice, helping organizations address both immediate needs and long-term business objectives.

Jason is the current Vice Chair of the Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Section on Business Law, serving a one-year term. He serves on the MSBA Section Council’s Legislative Committee, Continuing Legal Education Committee, and Executive Committee and the MSBA Business Law Section’s Committee on Corporation Law, testifying numerous times before the Maryland General Assembly’s Senate and House of Delegates committees in such capacity.

He holds a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a B.S. in Sports and Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina. During law school, Mr. Wasserman clerked in Shapiro Sher’s corporate practice group and served as a judicial intern to the Honorable John J. Nagle III of the Baltimore County Circuit Court.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Wasserman is an active volunteer with Pathfinders for Autism, one of Maryland’s leading autism advocacy organizations, serving on the board’s fundraising committees.
