Kelynn Carter Poinsette is an associate in the Firm’s insurance law group. She represents insurers, insurance professionals, and policyholders in a broad range of litigation and regulatory matters, including insurance coverage disputes, market conduct examinations, subrogation claims, business torts, contract cases, and other commercial disputes.
Prior to joining Shapiro Sher, Kelynn worked as a litigator at a regional, Texas-based firm, where she defended insurers and policyholders in complex insurance defense, medical malpractice, bodily injury, wrongful death, premises liability, trucking and transportation, construction defect, products liability, and dram shop liability actions.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Kelynn attended Spelman College in Atlanta, where she was a three-sport athlete, competing on the school’s volleyball, softball, and swimming teams. She then returned to her hometown to attend Cleveland State University College of Law where she volunteered in its litigation clinic and worked on its law review. Now residing in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Kelynn spends her time supporting her son’s soccer team, exploring new restaurants with her family, and is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
